Have you ever had an "off" makeup or skin day? When I was in Lima recently, I had both, and when your skin and hair aren't firing on all cylinders, all you want to do is shower and start all over.
Wherever you are, climate, pollution and water play a significant role in the condition of your skin and hair. In my case, the tap water in Lima dramatically changed my skin; it was itchy, irritated and my makeup didn't look right at all. This was an annoyance because my skin and makeup needed to be on point for various event functions. I usually pack a bottle of thermal water when I travel, but completely forgot because I was procrastinating on packing. Gah!
So, this is what went down: My first few days in Lima, I used tap water to wash my face (obviously). After a few days, I noticed my skin looked and felt different (not in a good way), and I began to wonder "why-in-the-world-is-my-skin-and-hair-is-reacting this way"? That's when a lightbulb moment happened: it was the tap water.
To fix my skin, I filled a bottle with filtered water and used that to wash my face for the rest of my stay and pampered my skin with The Alps and Florés Balancing Mist, to sooth, hydrate and bring down irritation. After a couple of days of using filtered water, I noticed a huge improvement in my complexion. It didn't look sallow, the irritation went down, and my makeup was sitting better on my skin.
Ale - 1. Tap Water - 0! Success!
If you’re travelling, pack a spritz bottle of spring water for your skincare routine. If you want to splurge, get Avéne Thermal Spring Water Mist or La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Mist—it's clean water, meaning, it doesn't contain all the bad stuff, like chlorine for example. It helps your skin receive all the wonderful ingredients your skin-care products have to offer.
I like to spritz the water all over my face a minute before I cleanse, and also two minutes before using our Rose Otto Anti-Aging Elixir or the No.2 Night Repair Oil.
I love it. My skin loves it. I swear by it, and perhaps you will too (or at least for when you travel)!
